Paolo Terranova is a mechanical engineer with a great interest in two- and four-wheels vehicles.
Currently, Paolo is a PhD student at Virginia Polytechnic: in charge of the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute, he is involved in different projects regarding vehicle safety.
During 2021 has worked at Knorr-Bremse Rail System Italy as a Rail Brake Testing Engineer. His main activities were software validation with bench tests, static and dynamic testing, and verification of communication on data networks.
Paolo spent his master thesis (supervisor was Prof. Hampton C. Gabler) working alongside the “Centre for Injury Biomechanics” of Virginia TECH and the MOVING group of the University of Florence, studying the applicability of some active safety systems for motorcycles on all the real crashes occurred in Prato (Italy) during 2018.

Paolo Terranova è un ingegnere meccanico con un grande interesse per i veicoli a due e quattro ruote. Attualmente, Paolo è PhD student al Virginia Polytechnic, USA: in carica al Virginia Tech Transportation Institute, è coinvolto in diversi progetti riguardanti la sicurezza dei veicoli.
Durante il 2021 ha lavorato alla Knorr-Bremse Rail System Italy come Testing Engineer dei Sistemi Frenanti Ferroviari. Le sue attività principali sono state la validazione software al banco, attività di testing statico e dinamico dei freni, e verifica della comunicazione sulle reti di dati.
Paolo ha svolto la sua tesi magistrale (relatore Prof. Hampton C. Gabler) lavorando con il “Centre for Injury Biomechanics” del Virginia Tech e il gruppo MOVING dell’Università di Firenze; ha studiato l’applicabilità di alcuni sistemi di sicurezza per motocicli, a tutti gli incidenti avvenuti a Prato (Italia) nel 2018.
